Originally a mission of the Cristo Vive Church in Sabanillas, Juan Naranjo Baptist Church in the community of Oliva now has 25 members. Pastor Josué Montejo works with children and youth in this town which has no other church, and "no cinema or other places where young people can gather and be together."
Also working with the "Third-Age Group" (the Cuban term for the elderly) , the mission seeks materials and other types of resources that would facilitate this work. A former Presbyterian, Montejo is a graduate of the Ecumenical Seminary of Theology in Matanzas and is committed to the local pastorate.
