In 1998, Ramona Matos Pérez began working as pastor of a Fraternity of Baptist church in Bolivia, Cuba. Since 2007, she has been pastor of the Roca Fuerte Baptist Church in Las Tunas. The church's main focus is on the youth of the neighborhood and with the disabled.
The church is planning a ministry to the elderly, but all of those activities will take place away from the church, which meets in a second-floor apartment and is not accessible to many of the elderly in the neighborhood. Matos is a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Santiago de Cuba, and has been a pastor since 1982.
